Open Letter to Mr. Miguel Rodriguez

I am 75 years old and have been married to the watchmaking industry for 50 years. At the time, I was an advisor to the late Nicolas G. Hayek, whom I greatly admired. I also had the honour of working behind the scenes for 45 years with the late Peter Baumberger, the patron of Urban Jürgensen.

As you may remember, I was also involved in the LeRoy project group. It was a shame that the brand had huge potential, but it was not recognised. It wasn’t the brand, it was always the people running the brand. In the end, Olivier Müller drove it to the wall because, like his predecessors, he didn’t understand the brand.

The story of the Joseph Chevalier brand, which you took over, is also my story.

H5 was interested in acquiring the brand and I had a conversation with your then director Jean-Claude Schwarz, who no longer had a budget for the rights because the brand was far too expensive to acquire.

Your Perrelet brand is still on my radar. Flavio Audemars had also offered the brand to me, and before that Caroline Scheufele (Chopard).

I think the brand was wrongly positioned from the beginning. Abraham Louis Perrelet was the inventor of the self-winding wristwatch. So you hit the jackpot.

The fact that you took over the positioning of the “Funny Turbine” from Flavio Audemars was incomprehensible to me, because with the inventor of the automatic wristwatch you had something that was the envy of others.

I have developed a very clear concept for the repositioning of Perrelet that can be quickly implemented with your infrastructure.
